Drove mom and dad to church as usual. Lunched with them after service. Cabbed down to Great World City to meet dar. Bought an almond pistachio + rum cake from Da Paolo Gastronomia.
Have been craving for their cakes eversince me and dar bought one months ago. Apparently, their main outlet at Holland V seems to house a wider selection of cakes. But its okie, im happy with mine. =)
The taste of Rum was uber strong. There were lots and lots of pistachios and almonds in between the cake layers! Am gonna try their tiramisu on my next visit. He Heh.
Read and borrowed some books from NLB, Bugis, too. And dar is said to be classified under the archives section of NLB's system. HaHaHa! That's what the librarian said! Which also explains why i couldnt borrow the books with dar's IC initially as the system doesnt recognize him! Muahaha. Damn funny. Archive!
We had dinner together before heading home. I had pork ribs prawn mee while dar had mushroom and bacon aglio from the new pasta stall. Its more expensive, and ten times more spicy than Pasta Manna's! The secret lies with the fact that they arent stingy with the usage of chili padi! However, the spicyness kinda cancelled out the pasta's wok-hei flavour so i guess Pasta Manna still wins? ahah.
Look at all the red (chili padi and bacon) and green (herbs and parsley), dont you think it looks like a christmas pasta? Haha The bacon has no FATS at all! Amazing. Would have prefered the fatty ones though. =P
Mien's not bad either, except they refuse to add more and still more chili, upon dar's request because the chef thinks dar is one big BIAN TAI. hahah. Very cute. The way he says bian tai is even more hilarious.
Shared a Black Pepper Pork hotplate as well.
I would have prefered beef acty but when i told dar that i'l be buying the beef hotplate, he went "HUH...", having the impression that he doesnt want beef, pork was therefore the second alternative. When the dish was served, he went : Why don buy beef? Beef nicer." *Pulls Hair*
Guys are always guys. They just dont know how to communicate and express themselves.
Black pepper pork aint that bad either. The red wine sure helped to boost its taste. And the latest addition to my list of banned restaurants/hawker stalls is none other than the prawn mee stall itself. Service was bleahhhhh. But i gotta admit that their prawn mee was pretty good! Hence, thou shall not name the stall as doing so could tarnish their reputation.
